Large Victorian Scottish specimen agate ball pendant formed of 6 cabochon discs set in 15 carat gold accented with Scottish river pearls.c.1850. Ball 1 inch diameter. Scottish agat e comes from the localities of Ardownie, Burn-Anne, and Ayr. Queen Victoria helped popularise Scottish agate which had always been revered for their particularly fine colouring and patterns,and which in Ancient times had served as talismans for luck and protection.
