Play the YouTube video and then tell them to reproduce the coding that they saw. This teachers guide will show what is in each lesson and show sample block coding, so that you can assist the student without referring back to the video. The videos are an introduction to computer programming for kids 5-8 years old. This series of lessons teaches real programming concepts using the ScratchJr app. The YouTube videos contain everything that is needed, but this optional guide can be used to assist a teacher wanting to guide students and follow along. To get ScratchJr, each student will need an iPad or Android tablet. They can get the ScratchJr app from the Apple Appstore or Google Play. It is free. It is available for PC, but I highly recommend young students use a device with a touch screen.
