Sculpey III is the entry-level formula in the Sculpey range — and the one most people start with for good reason. It's the softest clay they make: it responds quickly to hand warmth, conditions without much effort, and forgives the kind of handling that would distort a firmer clay. Bakes to a smooth matte finish in a standard home oven at 130°C (275°F) for 15 minutes per 6mm of thickness. The 2oz (57g) blocks are available across a broad colour range — solid tones covering the full spectrum from neutrals like White, Beige and Tan through to Candy Pink, Sky Blue, Emerald, Turquoise and Red Hot Red, plus a Translucent and a Glow In The Dark for effects work. Colours mix predictably before baking, and the matte baked surface takes acrylic paint, inks and sanding well if you want to work into the piece after curing. Well suited to jewellery, small sculptures, home décor, mixed media, and classroom use. Each block is individually packaged and stores without drying out — unused clay can be wrapped and kept for future sessions.
