Product Highlights Material: Handcrafted from Natural Solid Wood, carved so the grain sweeps unbroken from one end of the piece to the other Design: Fluid sculptural bench with a low arched underside and two solid end masses, shaped as one continuous gesture Structure: One carved monolith — a single seat plane bridging two solid end blocks, each block pierced by one opening: a long teardrop void at one end and a round circular void at the other Details: The arch beneath the seat rises from block to block in one uninterrupted curve, with every edge softened and hand-polished Functionality: Backless sculptural wood bench that reads as seating and as an art object in equal measure Sizes available: 39"W x 16"H x 16"D, 47"W x 16"H x 16"D, 51"W x 16"H x 16"D, 55"W x 16"H x 18"D, 60"W x 18"H x 18"D, 65"W x 18"H x 18"D Tone finishes: Brown, Walnut, Oak, and Black Tone Finish Uniqueness: The two voids and the sweep of the arch catch the grain differently in every piece, so no two benches repeat This bench is carved from a single continuous piece of Natural Solid Wood — the seat, the arch, and both end masses are one body, not separate parts brought together. It leaves our workshop fully shaped, sanded, and finished, so there is nothing to assemble and no fasteners or joints to tighten on arrival; you simply unwrap it and set it where you want it. A Statement of Nature & Craft What holds this bench up is not a pair of supports but the mass of the wood itself: a low arch that lifts off the floor at each end into a solid block, one pierced by a long teardrop void, the other by a clean round opening. The grain follows that whole journey without a single break, curling around the inside of each void and running out along the seat, which is the clearest evidence that the piece was cut from one body of wood rather than built from several. Seen straight on it is almost graphic — a bar suspended over two shadows. Live with it and the shadows move: morning light fills the round opening, evening light spills through the teardrop, and the bench changes character across the day without ever changing shape. Natural Materials & Fine Craftsmanship Because the whole form comes out of one piece of Natural Solid Wood, the craftsman has to read the grain before the first cut and commit to it. The arch is hollowed from beneath in slow passes, the two voids are opened and then worked from both faces so their inner walls are as smooth as the outer surface, and the entire body is sanded through progressive grits until the wood feels closer to stone than timber. The soft rounding on every edge is cut by hand rather than routed to a uniform profile, which is why the corners of the end blocks are gently full instead of mechanically crisp. A protective low-sheen finish seals the surface and brings out the depth of the figure without adding gloss. Sculptural Design & Thoughtful Function The seat is a single flat plane, unbroken along its whole length and wide enough for comfortable seating, with no back, no cushion, and no hardware anywhere on the piece. Beneath it the underside curves up into a shallow arch that meets each end block, and it is this arch — not any separate leg — that carries the weight down to the floor. The two openings are deliberately different: the long teardrop at one end draws the eye horizontally along the bench, while the round void at the other end acts as a full stop. Both remove visual bulk from what would otherwise be two heavy masses, so the bench feels light despite being a single solid form. Note that the openings are structural and sculptural, not storage — there are no shelves or compartments. Versatile Placement Under a piece of framed art it works as a low sculptural line that anchors the wall without competing with it. In an entryway it offers a place to sit and pull on shoes while the voids keep the floor visually open in a narrow space. At the end of a bed it reads as a quiet horizontal counterweight to a tall headboard, and in a living room it doubles as extra seating or as a low surface for books and a single object. The longer sizes suit hallways, landings, and gallery-like rooms; the shorter ones settle comfortably into a bedroom corner or beside a window. Customization & Personalization Length, height, and depth can be adjusted to your wall or alcove if none of the listed sizes fits — because the bench is carved rather than assembled, the proportions of the arch and the two voids are scaled with it so the balance of the design is preserved. Select the Tone Finish that suits your interior, from warm Brown and Walnut through lighter Oak to a deep Black. Surface treatment can be specified as natural oil, matte wax, or a clear protective coat. Every bench is carved to order, and we are happy to send progress photographs as the form emerges. Care & Maintenance Dust the seat and the inner walls of both openings with a soft dry cloth, and dry any spill immediately rather than letting it stand. Keep the bench away from prolonged direct sunlight, damp, and sharp swings in temperature. Place a mat or coaster beneath anything wet or heavy you rest on the seat. Important The bench is a single carved body with no back and no storage; the two end masses each carry one opening — a teardrop void and a round void — and there are no separate legs. Each bench is handcrafted, ensuring uniqueness in every piece. Designed for stable placement on flat indoor surfaces. Production updates available upon request. Note Listing includes the bench only. The framed artwork, cushions, throws, plants, footwear, and rugs appearing in the photographs are styling props and are sold separately. Decorative items are not included. Natural grain patterns enhance the beauty of the piece, completed with a protective wood surface. As this product is made from natural wood, variations in grain, texture, and tone are to be expected — each piece is truly one of a kind.
