The sE Electronics RNR1 is the first product in the sE Rupert Neve Signature Series: an active ribbon microphone co-designed with Rupert Neve to deliver natural source reproduction with a frequency response far wider than traditional ribbons. Custom transformers and discrete circuitry extend high-frequency detail while preserving the smooth, intimate character ribbons are known for.The hand-tensioned 2.5 µm aluminum ribbon sits in a precision-machined housing with scalloped edges for an acoustically ideal response. A figure-8 polar pattern, 100 Hz low-cut switch, and included shockmount make the RNR1 ready for studio vocals, strings, brass, guitar cabinets, and room capture.Key Features Active ribbon design with custom Rupert Neve transformers and discrete circuitry Frequency response approximately three times wider than typical ribbon mics Hand-tensioned 2.5 µm aluminum ribbon element Figure-8 polar pattern for front-and-rear capture with side rejection 100 Hz bass-cut filter reduces rumble and proximity effect Custom shockmount and gold-plated 3-pin XLR connector Matte black all-metal housing with precision-machined scalloped edges Specifications Transducer: Hand-crafted 2.5 µm aluminum ribbon Polar pattern: Figure-8 Frequency range: 20 Hz to 20 kHz Sensitivity: 25 mV/Pa (-32 dB) Max SPL: 137 dB (0.5% THD at 1 kHz) Equivalent noise: 17 dB(A) Signal to noise ratio: 77 dB Low-cut filter: 100 Hz Output impedance: 200 ohms Connectivity: 3-pin male XLR Power: 48V phantom (P48 per IEC 61938) Electronics: Active Microphone diameter: 47 mm (1.85 in.)
