Full range. Expanded depth. The sE Electronics SE8 is a condenser microphone designed to capture a wide and detailed range of sound. It is especially well suited for instruments that carry strong low frequencies and a broad spectrum of tone, where both depth and clarity are important. Why This Microphone The SE8 (along with its sister model, the SE7) is what we use here at Sunreed™ for both recording and live sound. Condenser microphones allow more of the sound to come through, capturing not just volume, but the full range of vibration, from subtle textures to powerful resonance. When working with instruments that produce a wide spectrum of tone, having a microphone that can receive that range clearly becomes important. Working with the SE8 The SE8 is well suited for: Gongs Drums Crystal singing bowls Instruments with both low and high frequency range Compared to the SE7, the SE8 offers: A wider frequency range More depth in the low end Greater clarity across the full spectrum The ability to handle stronger volume and intensity The result is a fuller and more complete representation of the sound. Placement & Use One SE8 can typically cover a space of about 3 x 4 feet. This can be used as a simple guide when deciding how many microphones you may need, depending on how your instruments are arranged. Each microphone connects to a mixer using an XLR cable (sold separately), and requires phantom power. A Simple Perspective The SE8 allows the full voice of the instrument to come forward. It supports both the depth of low tones and the clarity of higher frequencies, helping the sound remain whole and connected as it is shared.
