Seachem Matrix for Aquarium Biofiltration Matrix is a porous inorganic biomedia with both external and internal macroporous surface area. These pores support nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria, allowing Matrix to help process ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate in the same filter system. Each litre provides more than 700 m2 of surface area. Inert media will not break down and does not need routine replacement. Large media size usually does not require a filter bag in most applications. Can be rinsed when needed because much of the bacterial population is internal.
