FAQ What phosphate level should a reef run?Most reef keepers aim for a very low but not zero phosphate, since corals still need a trace. If your test climbs, run a remover and check your feeding and source water. Why would I test silicate?Persistent brown diatom films usually mean silicate is entering the tank, most often through unfiltered tap water. Testing pinpoints the source so you can fix it at the water, not just wipe the glass. Do I have to dose iodide?Not necessarily. Test first.
