This higher pK counteracts the acidifying effects of organic acids produced by reef inhabitants, ensuring the pH remains within the ideal range of 8.25 to 8.30. This makes it particularly effective in reef tanks with higher bioloads, where maintaining stable conditions is critical for coral and marine life health. For best results, check your system’s pH and alkalinity before dosing. Use approximately 5 g (one level teaspoon) per 150 liters (40 gallons) to raise the pH by about 0.1 units and increase alkalinity by roughly 0.5 meq/L. Always dissolve the powder in at least one cup of freshwater before adding it to your tank. Regular dosing may be necessary every two weeks to semiweekly, depending on your system’s needs. It is important not to exceed recommended doses without monitoring, as alkalinity should stay below 6 meq/L to avoid imbalance.
