One summer, I stumbled across this magical plant for the first time; its vivid lilac thistles and silvery, metallic leaves stopped me in my tracks. I couldn’t believe I’d never noticed it before. Watching my dogs gallop across the sand, only to leap around the prickly thistles, made me laugh and sealed the moment in memory.
