Inspired by the organic shapes of seashells, this handmade plate is part of our first collaboration series with Pollygarden. Each step of the production process is meticulously handcrafted from start to finish at Pollygarden Studio in Seoul. As the clay is kneaded, rolled, and shaped by hand, natural variations arise, making every piece truly one of a kind. Unlike mass-produced ceramics, these handmade pieces carry the imprint of the maker’s hands, with organic edges that may not be perfectly round, and subtle differences in pattern, form, and size. This piece is finished with a subtly glossy white glaze, but you may also notice small surface marks, rough textures in the glaze, black specks, tiny pinholes, glaze drips, red kiln marks on the bottom, or small clay fragments of different colors. These characteristics are all part of the firing and forming process and should be appreciated as part of the piece’s unique beauty.
