'Second Phase' refers to a historic period of Navajo weavings in the mid 1800s in which 'Chiefs Blankets' or wearing blankets, which started as simple two or three colour stripes w ere now getting intersected with additional colours in rectangular forms in the ground which punctuated the pattern in a more vivid style than the simpler, earlier phase.
