A white plastic device that fits into the back of a standard white plastic drum tap to reduce the pickup of sediment during racking or bottling. The device looks like a top hat wit h a slot cut in it and is fitted inside the threaded end of the tap with the slot pointing upwards (in the opposite direction of the tap spout) after which the whole thing is screwed into the drum port on the fermenter with the spout pointing downwards the sediment reducer slot should be pointing upwards inside the fermenter.
