We have been very impressed with our trials of Sedum 'Firecracker', the 2014 introduction and improvement over the earlier Sedum 'Cherry Tart', from Michigan plant breeder, Chris " Sparky" Hansen. For us, it forms a 3" tall x 2' wide evergreen mound of foliage that emerges grey and almost immediately changes to a lovely rosy purple. As a rock gardener, we like that it has a controlled growth spread, so if you're using it for a groundcover, you'll need a plant every 2'. In late summer, it's topped with a show of pink flowers, but we'd grow this just for the foliage. Show more
