The original habitat for Sedum multiceps is the northern mountainous region of Algeria growing to elevations of around 1500m. This area has hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, just like the Mediterranean climate of the Bay Area! Note: if it gets hot and dry enough this plant can go dormant over the summer. In dormancy the rosettes close right up to the point where you can only see a little bit of green poking out. Don't panic, this is normal behavior as this plant does all its growing in the winter months and flowers in late spring before going dormant.
