The tones of the leaves are slightly muted by a coating of powdery farina, so take care when handling this variety not to mar this layer with the oils from your fingerprints. As Sedum pachyphyllum matures, the stems will begin to branch, creating a shrubby yet airy mass of foliage approximately 12 inches tall and wide. Bright sun is key to this variety’s best coloration, and will also encourage a profusion of warm yellow blooms during the spring and summer months. Beyond this lighting requirement, Sedum pachyphyllum is a hardy specimen, though it prefers to be allowed to dry out between thorough waterings. A porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot will stave off issues related to excess moisture retention, as will ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface.
