Sedum spurium 'Red Carpet'A low-growing, mat-forming perennial succulent with fleshy, bronze and green leaves that turn deep red in fall and winter. Lower stem leaves are deciduous, but newer leaves near the stem tips are evergreen. Tiny, pink-red, star-shaped flowers bloom from late spring to mid-summer. Spreads very easily, making it great as a ground cover or filling in planters. Also beautiful in rock gardens or spilling over retaining walls. Easily grown in acidic, average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates some shade, especially in Texas and other hot climates. Prefers sandy or gravelly soils.
