The Sekhmet Bag from the Faces of the Earth collection draws inspiration from the ceremonial masks of the Sukuma people of Tanzania, who represent one half of ANYANGO's heritage. L ong associated with storytelling, protection, and ancestral presence, these masks inform the spirit of each piece. Handcrafted from natural raffia and embroidered with imagery translated directly from ANYANGO's original paintings, every bag is created by hand and no two are ever exactly alike. Variations in the weave, embroidery, and finish are celebrated as part of each bag's unique character. The Sekhmet Bag draws its name from the Egyptian lioness goddess Sekhmet, one of the most powerful figures of the ancient world. Associated with courage, protection, and transformation, she represents the fierce energy that drives creation, change, and renewal.
