Selena is a radiant barn owl in flight at night ahead of a full golden moon. The name Selena originates from the Latin word ‘selas’ meaning bright and is referred to as the “moon goddess”. I was inspired to paint Selena in memory of my dearest Mum. On the day my Mum died I saw a beautiful barn owl perched on a hedge near her home. It looked at me for a few seconds and then flew off. This gave me great comfort, it was as if the owl was my Mum’s spirit wanting me to know she would be looking over me as a guardian angel. An owl is known to symbolise wisdom, and transformation and whilst painting Selena I felt connected to my Mum. Owls are also elusive creatures of the night giving them a dark veil of curiosity and intrigue. Size: 64m x 64cm x 5cm (including frame) Canvas is 60cm x 60cm x 3.5cm An original painting.
