This striking matched pair of studio lamps was handmade by Danish ceramicist Aage Rasmus Selsbo, likely in the 1960s. Each lamp showcases his signature sculptural surface style—whe re rough, organic textures are incised into unglazed stoneware, then framed by pools of deep cobalt gloss. The surface reads almost like a stylized nest, root mass, or carved tangle—highly tactile, yet precisely balanced in form. Selsbo worked independently in the mid-20th century, contributing to Denmark’s tradition of expressive ceramic modernism. While larger manufacturers like Søholm and Michael Andersen leaned into glazing innovation, makers like Selsbo explored clay as form—closer in spirit to sculpture than factory function.
