Each pearl stores water and has a narrow translucent window that appears as a darker line across the surface.Slight differences in bead size give every strand its characteristic string-like texture. Active tips form short chains of small, closely spaced pearls. The stems steadily lengthen and branch until they hang well below the container, with larger, firmer beads occupying the older sections.A developed plant can produce a thick curtain made from hundreds of these round leaves while retaining remarkably fine stems. Small white flowers may also appear, carrying projecting purple-tipped stamens and a sweet cinnamon-like scent that adds an unexpected detail above the green strands.
