Cardioid is excellent for delivering a tight-focused sound, whilst providing incredible off-axis rejection of around -6dB of unwanted noise and ambience. This is a great polar pattern to rely on when performing live. If you desire to take that isolation to the next level, engage supercardioid mode. Although similar to cardioid, thanks to the incredible focus it provides. Supercardioid boasts a tighter pick-up pattern with even less sensitivity at the rear of the microphone. Switchable polar patterns Having the option to switch between the cardioid and supercardioid polar patterns provides excellent flexibility for the user. The microphone pattern can be switched by simply twisting off the head of the microphone and using the slider underneath.
