Used in Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT), they promote symmetrical jaw strength, stability, and grading for clients with weak jaw musculature, while accommodating those with tactile sensitivities or sensory-based preferences. Therapy Goals Promote symmetrical jaw strength and stability using a softer, sensory-friendly bite surface within the graduated Bite Block Hierarchy. Build jaw grading skills for clients who are sensory-sensitive or who are beginning the Bite Block Hierarchy for the first time. Address reduced jaw mobility, jaw sliding, or jaw jutting with a more tolerable bite surface for sensory-responsive clients. Facilitate assessment and treatment of dysarthria, apraxia, and dyspraxia using graded bite resistance appropriate for sensory needs. Support treatment of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) for clients who cannot tolerate hard bite surfaces. Establish jaw stability as a prerequisite foundation for independent tongue and lip movements in speech and feeding therapy. Key Benefits Softer, more pliable material: makes the Bite Block Hierarchy accessible for sensory-sensitive or tactile-defensive clients. Same functional hierarchy: works like the original Jaw Grading Bite Blocks but with a gentler surface for improved tolerability. Full graduated set: two sets of six Bite Blocks support progressive jaw grading therapy. Reusable, durable construction: supports long-term clinical and home use. Instruction booklet included: supports therapist-guided implementation. Sensory accommodation: useful for clients with dysarthria, apraxia, and dyspraxia who need a gentler entry point to jaw grading work. Ideal for: Clients with tactile defensiveness or sensory sensitivity who cannot tolerate a hard bite surface. Children and adults with dysarthria, apraxia, or dyspraxia requiring a sensory-accommodating clinical tool. Clients presenting with reduced jaw mobility, jaw sliding, or jaw jutting who are beginning the Bite Block Hierarchy. Speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists introducing clients to jaw grading with a sensory-friendly approach. Feeding therapists working with sensory-sensitive clients on jaw stability in clinical or home settings. Private practice, school-based, early intervention, and clinic settings.
