Serie Imperiale is the name given to a series of postage stamps released in 1929 and used until 1949, depicting the head of King Victor Emmanuel III. Artist Flavio Favelli chose tw o of these to overprint with another stamp, thus altering the features of the sovereign. His work consists in enlarging these images and painting them on the walls of obsolete buildings: painting, tearing, filling. In doing so, Favelli overcomes the fixity of the work, which finds new space and time while preserving its hidden history and technique.
