Hyphessobrycon eques is a popular species of tetra. They have a deep red body with an eye-catching black spot, and an electric white edge to the anal fin. Serpaes have a reputati on as fin nippers which may turn some people off from buying them; however, when kept in sufficient numbers (we recommend 5-8+) most nipping behaviour should be confined to the school. While slow, long finned fish like angels are probably best avoided, Serpae tetras mesh perfectly well with most other similarly-sized community fish. These are young specimens, just under 1" long. They are not fully coloured up, but have a surprising level of colour for their age. Show more
