Rich umber, sienna and black tones form the midground, while the foreground flows with turquoise and grey, threaded with fine gold lacing that suggests water moving along the shore. Undulating lines ripple through the lower portion of the painting, echoing the serpentine forms of the land and lending the work a sense of rhythm and movement.
