Every conflict produces it’s own reference designs, through iconography, & surplus these inevitably enter the cannon of fashion. The Cheetah sneaker is inextricably & infamously wr itten into the past 30 years of conflict in Afghanistan. It’s use as fighting footwear goes back to the Mujahideen opposition against Russia & later The Taliban. Today it serves as a point of pride for many Afghan belligerents: infamously the Taliban, but equally village security militias, Afghan Security forces & many every-day Afghans. Real Cheetahs are manufactured in Pakistan & aren’t available outside of the region. Though there are both cheaper Chinese & Pakistani knockoffs on the market, neither have the Cheetahs signature Vulcanized sole. The Vulcanizing process uses natural rubber yielding an incredibly soft sole that patinas, but has nearly disappeared in the manufacturing world outside of Japan. A few pairs are for sale to those that may appreciate them. It’s my high hope that these 90’s throwbacks create common ground for those that find none elsewhere for sizing I would advise sizing up if you fall between sizes in the US or UK sizing system, sizes are US.
