While Pons described the Set Cotnes fig as best suited for pig food, today’s collectors have gone crazy for this golden variety. I guess takes can really change! Growers are attracted to Set Cotnes because it is rare, has good resistance to splitting, and is relatively early ripening. It is a beautiful honey colored fig, with yellow skin and amber pulp. The figs grow to either medium or large size and have a squat shape. The skin may have ribbing and dark sugar spots towards the eye. The thick skin is tasty and the amber pulp has a delicious honey and berry flavor. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
