The Story of Sol Bloom, the Most PowerfulJew in Congress During the Holocaust Advance Praise"Concise, deeply-researched, readable, and clearly-argued."- Edward Shapiro, PhD, profes sor emeritus of history, Seton Hall University"Elliot Resnick's consideration of Sol Bloom in America First has forced me to reexamine my opinion of the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.... I had previously all-too-easily accepted the cliché's portrayal that he was too timid and meek, either afraid or unwilling to advance Jewish interests at the most important time in our people's history. Resnick has proven these opinions wrong and Bloom emerges as a far more complex character, more deeply as a caring proud Jew."- Michael Berenbaum, PhD, renowned historian, project directoroverseeing the creation of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum"The response of American Jewry to the plight of their European brothers and sisters remains a sensitive and somewhat murky subject. America First will help provide insight on this topic. It is an enlightening read."- Rabbi Berel Wein, popular historian, director of the Destiny Foundation"In America First, Elliot Resnick uses his ample scholarly and literary talent to explore the challenge of leadership in the real world. It is the job of activists and opposition leaders to call for justice and action. It is the job of leaders in power to accomplish what is possible. Purity is a luxury of the powerless while reality is the world of those with power. In this study of the life of Sol Bloom... Resnick thoroughly and sensitively evaluates the powerful politician based on what was realistically possible, arriving at surprising conclusions."- Rabbi Gil Student, editor of TorahMusings.com,director of the Halacha Commission of the Rabbinical Alliance of America"In America First, Elliot Resnick applies the same passion he exhibits on his engaging podcast to tackling the controversial legacy of one of the 20th century's most politically powerful American Jews. Agree or disagree with his conclusions, you certainly won't be bored."- Josh Hammer, senior editor-at-large, Newsweeksyndicated columnist, host of "The Josh Hammer Show" table{border-collapse:collapse}td{background-color:#efefef;font-weight:bold;font-family:sans-serif;font-size:16px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px}th{font-family:sans-serif;font-size:16px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px} Sku: SF-688-6 Author: Elliot Resnick, PhD Isbn 13: 9780988676886 Isbn 10: 0988676885 Pages: 214 Size: 6.3" x 9.3" Binding: Hardcover Date: 8/10/2023 Imprint: Brenn Books Show more
