Cast from the original pair and replicated in brass, these candlesticks typify a traditional eastern European design popular in the 19th century. The original pair may have been th e work of Polish-Jewish brass casters, who were known to have formed professional guilds. Sabbath candles are lit shortly before onset of the Sabbath at sunset on Friday.
