Here is some information that will help you out... Most shackles have a larger pin diameter compared to the "nominal" shackle size or shackle body size classification. In most cases the shackle pin is 1/8 inch larger in diameter compared to the shackle nominal size designation. For example, the most common size shackle for midsize trucks, jeeps and SUVs is a 3/4 inch shackle that has a pin diameter of 7/8 inch so that the shear strength of the pin matches or exceeds the strength of the shackle body size.
