"Shadow Work"36 x 60 x 1.5 inAcrylic, graphite, & charcoal on canvas This original painting on canvas has a raw and magnetic energy. The shadowy forms are striking against the background created with layers and layers of detail. The dark forms are painted primarily with my hands - I used heavy black paint to make the organic shapes and let them do what they wanted. Each painting is a conversation between myself and the work of art, telling me what it needs from me. This abstract painting is perfect for contemporary art lovers who aren't afraid of bold art and dancing with the shadows in the deepest parts of themselves. This painting would fit nicely over the couch or in the living room, as it's suited to be the center of conversations with everyone who sees it. Here's the accompanying poem that was inspired by it: "The real work residesnot in the light but in the cast of the shadowsaway from the gaze of those around us if only we decideto embrace changefrom within" This painting was featured in Laura Mitsu's debut solo exhibition "Poetic Abstraction" in April-May 2024 in San Francisco, CA.
