Shadows + Reflections was first prompted by Annie Dibble’s images of the Irish National War Memorial Gardens, who has been photographing the Gardens for many years. In addition, th is important interdisciplinary work, perhaps more poignantly, offers an intriguing set of reflections drawn from the local, the national, the personal, the past and the architectural, all told from women’s perspectives – a deliberate attempt to rectify how women’s voices have been largely absent from the history of the Gardens. The seasonal nature of the setting depicted in the photographs not only illustrates the Gardens’ stark beauty and splendour, but also mirrors the changing use of the Gardens over time. Show more
