Yellowstone bears are busy in autumn, feeding constantly before winter closes the season. I watched this black bear shake water from his coat after crossing a shallow stream, dropl ets catching light like brief sparks against dark fur. The motion lasted seconds. I had been waiting in the same spot for nearly an hour.Wildlife photography is mostly stillness punctuated by bursts you cannot repeat. When he shook, the background simplified into green willows and pale sky, and the arc of water became the story. I had a fast enough shutter to freeze the droplets but not so fast that the bear felt static. Shake it Off is a light title for a simple moment. On site it felt like relief: the bear finishing a task, the morning moving on, me realizing the wait had been worth one gesture. Nature rarely performs on schedule.
