Seed Origin: Ireland Sowing: February to April Harvesting: July to September How To Grow Zebrune Shallots From Seed: Sow Zebrune onion seeds indoors from February to March, or direct sow outdoors from March to April when soil is at least 10 °C. Sow 1 cm deep in seed trays or modules and keep at 15–20 °C; seedlings germinate in 7–14 days. When large enough to handle, transplant to a sunny, well-drained bed, spacing plants 15 cm apart in rows 30 cm apart. Water regularly but avoid waterlogging, and keep soil weed-free. Harvest when foliage yellows and falls over, usually about 100–110 days after transplanting. Carefully lift bulbs and cure them in a dry, well-ventilated place for two to three weeks before storing.
