TASTING NOTES: Creamy, spring flowers, woodsy Shangri-La Oolong is an extra special tea from the Kangra Valley; a cross between a light black tea and a fresh green tea. It makes a pure cup with springy floral notes and woodsy forest floor aromas. Made by the Mann Garden, which has been in the same family for six generations, it’s one of the most exquisite teas from this relatively unknown tea-growing region that combines traditional regional practices with inspiration from China and Taiwan. Kangra lies at the foothills of the snow-capped peaks of the Dhauladhar mountain range (part of the Himalayan chain) in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India's northwest at a high altitude of 4000-6000 ft. The pristine natural environment surrounded by pine forests, and dotted with rushing streams and lakes gives teas from here a vivacious green character all of their own.
