Blueberries are handsome upright, dense, deciduous shrubs with arching shoots and elliptical leaves that emerge bronze, mature to dark green, and change to yellow or red in autumn. Tiny, white, urn-shaped flowers are followed by edible, sweet blue-black berries in mid- to late-spring. Shrubs can be used for hedges or borders. 'Sharpblue' is an early season fruiting Southern highbush variety that requires 200 chill hours. This is a large, fast-growing shrub with big, light blue berries and a sweet-tart flavor.
