The Shellbark Hickory makes a statement in the landscape. Growing 60-80 ft. tall with a narrow, rounded crown, it's a very tall, ornamental shade tree that's ideal for larger lands capes. Its foliage turns an attractive yellow to golden brown in the fall. As the tree matures, it develops exfoliating bark. A native to the United States, the Shellbark Hickory Tree grows best in medium to wet soils. It produces thin-shelled nuts that split on their own when fully ripe, with a flavor similar to pecans.
