This multi functional headscarf has Arabic origins and was originally intended to provide protection in desert conditions against sun, wind, sand & the cold at night. First used by British Commandos operating in North Africa during WW2 but now a mainstay with the UK military and others forces worldwide. This highly versatile piece of kit can be used as a towel, makeshift medical sling, headwrap, tank crew face veil, as a scarf, to provide shelter and shade and to guard against the sun but is equally as useful in the winter.
