I grew up with the phrase “Red sky at night, shepherds delight” and I loved that hope, that idea that in the morning, you were going to have a day of fantastic weather, of all of t he opportunities to come. As I created this painting, I have been thinking about that phrase, how we use nature as a sign of hope, of positive things to come, and to plan. Whether for beautiful days or weathering storms.
