Shilajit* is compressed, decomposed plant material in an intermediate phase of becoming fossilized. Shilajit is pushed to the earth's surface during mountain range formation, where it oozes from between cracks and hardens into rock-like chunks, which can be reduced over heat into a viscous resin.
