Shiraz is the black knight at the Australian wine table. He is never the servant to the king but often brooding and simmering in the background. At Bettenay’s he is allowed to run amok, relax and forge his own sovereignty. His bold and forthright nature seems at ease in this coastal principality where his aggressive edge is lessened and regal nobility shines. A knight to remember. This wine has been aged in 80% French oak and 20% American Oak. Maturation in barrel peaked at 20 months where maximum fruit intensity complemented secondary oak driven characteristics of the barrel ageing process.
