This robbing screen is the same width as the Medium Robbing Screen but it is only 4.5" tall and it is 7 inches wide. This gives you a bit more room if your handle cutouts are a bit shorter than others. Additionally, we moved the entrance hole from the center and offset it to the right side of the top. This keeps it just a bit further away from the smell of the honey.The Short Medium Robbing screen still uses the same slotted method for quick installation and removal. Two stainless #8 x 1/2″ screws are included with the robber screen. These fit standard 8 and 10 frame Langstroth boxes but also fit 5 and 6 frame nuc boxes.How does it work? The screen is placed so the entrance to the hive is as low as possible and the robber bees smell the honey and try to get in through the screen. Meanwhile the “home” bees protect the top opening where most of the robber bees will not use.Installation: Place the robber screen over current hive entrance so that it is as low on the cage as possible. Insert the screws through the skinny part of the opening but only snug the screws to the screen. Then remove the robber screen by lifting the screen and pulling out through the larger openings. After dark, simply put the screen back on and in the morning the house bees will re-orient to the top opening of the robber cage.
