Shyne's self-titled debut album, Shyne, was released on September 26, 2000, via Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Records. The album is the first entry in the Belizean-American rapper 's discography. It featured the moderate hit singles "Bad Boyz," "That's Gangsta," and "Bonnie & Shyne," with both "Bad Boyz" and "Bonnie & Shyne" featuring reggae artist Barrington Levy. The album debuted and peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 chart and number two on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Sales performance saw the album move just under 160,000 copies in its first week, ultimately earning an RIAA Gold certification.
