This is Signal 2015. What Is It? The orange field with a black square and circle is the internationally recognized maritime signal for a vessel in distress. We've adapted it into a series of prints as a way for people who recognize the danger we're in to find each other, mark safe space, and signal solidarity. We protect us. We save us. Simplicity brushes against the surreal in this Signal rendered in a woodcut style. Why does the square cast no shadow? Is it a window into an abyss? Playfully dark, it's made to give the viewer pause. Show more
