This product is best classified as a composite polymer, composed of randomly distributed Polydimethylsiloxane and Polymethylsilsesquioxane (PMSQ) domains. Polydimethylsiloxane is the world’s most common silicone, and thus it is used in a variety of products including, contact lenses, medical devices, and cosmetics. However, due to the interacting chemistry between these polymers, the resulting polymer is significantly different from normal silicone products.
