Creating this little sculpture, I had in mind the suppression of women in gene ral, but specifically during all recent changes in Afghanistan. To me, it is very difficult to imagen life with all the restrictions women face there in daily life. The hand over the mouth is firmly attached by very strong, difficult-to-remove, rusted nails. It indicates the old, powerful force not allowing for any liberty, rights and freedom. Antique pearls shows that suppression is reaching poverty or wealth. Show more
