The Silent Slumber Ring is a sterling silver ring shaped around a sleeping female figure curled in on herself. She lies along the top of the band with her head lowered and her limbs drawn in, and the line of her back becomes the outer curve of the ring itself. There is no setting or plinth beneath her: body and band are one continuous form, which is what gives the piece its stillness. It is an image of rest and of quiet withdrawal from the world, sculptural rather than religious in intent.
