A very unusual boxed suite of Silesian jewellery comprising a bracelet, brooch and earrings circa 1800-20. Silesian wire work was made in Gleiwitz, Silesia and is very light and ai ry, almost like lace work. It was produced at the same time as Berlin Iron work. Silesia became part of the German Empire on its proclamation in 1871. This suite has woven flowers and leaves, the bracelet with a lattice woven back. The bracelet hooks at the front. The bracelet is 4.9cm north to south at the front, 1.9cm around the back and 18.5cm around the wrist. The brooch is 6.9cm x 4.9cm and the earrings 1.5cm diameter. Show more
