A wall-mounted cast brass match holder in the French Rococo revival style, decorated with grapevines, grape clusters, and a bearded Bacchus mask at the centre — the god of wine kee ping watch over the matches. The pierced crest at the top is particularly fine. The original ceramic or tin inner liner is no longer present, but the brass surround is complete and mounts easily to a wall.
